Couple's Photo Tour
The couple saw each other during orientation at the Graphic Design school they both attended when Diana developed a crush on Ben on the spot. She was determined to find more information about him through mutual friends. The sparks were instantaneous and mutual, ‘but he’s more normal, so he just let it be.’
No thanks to ‘the worst matchmaker friends’, one year later, they started having classes together. Diana wore her conversation starter t-shirt with ‘weird, funny illustrations to attract his attention,’ which worked. Ben made some small talk, and Diana quickly justified a reason to send him a message on Instagram. Many DMs later, trying to help Diana with her broken laptop, Ben invited Diana for a casual drink after school, where they shared a first kiss.
“We were together for two years before he decided to propose on my birthday,” the bride gushes. “He gathered all my friends to organize a treasure hunt of puzzles– one of my favorite things– visiting spots from our early days of dating."
“The whole hunt led to their apartment, which one of the bridesmaids, Bruno, had decorated to resemble Monica and Chandler’s proposal– another of Diana’s favorite things. Giant marry-me balloons, happy tears and lots of food were involved. “It was truly magical,” she recollects.
The Preparation
After much thought about having a wedding in the city, the bride and groom decided to marry in Bali. She didn’t find anything in Australia that spoke to her and thought everything seemed ‘very basic and expensive for what it offered’. When finally looking into destination weddings, she found ‘exactly what she wanted with Tirtha: chic, detail-oriented, and edgy at the same time.
“The first photo I saw of Tirtha was of the Moonlight Garden with the peacock chairs. Just seeing that photo inspired me to build my whole wedding theme, and the more I researched about the wedding venue, the more in love I fell with every detail the venue provided. I love how every space and decoration they present is very eclectic and that most services are offered in-house, which gave me a good sense of security.”
The bride stuns the crowd in a gown that embodies cool contemporary couture, staying true to her personality. The curve-enhancing bodice with flattering boning, the intricate embellishments adorned all over the dress, and the split on the thigh make the bride look breathtaking, with a chapel train as the cherry on top. The groom is in white and light beige, complemented by deep green touches from his groomsmen and maids.
Before the ceremony, Diana and her bridesmaids enjoy quality time in the Tirtha guest room.
“The venue also complemented well the style of my personal friends who contributed to the wedding,” she shares. The wedding planners set a cooler yet muted-toned theme for the fashion-forward bride. While guests wear color for the event, the bride and groom stand out in neutral hues.
The Ceremony at Tirtha Uluwatu | Chapel Wedding
The Bali wedding planners opt for an assortment of flowers to translate the beige, pink, and green color palette for her bouquet. Escorted by her father, Diana walks down an orchid-lined aisle of Tirtha's iconic Glass Chapel, trailing behind her, Balinese dancers carrying her train, all while the loved ones look on.
"Being away from Ben the whole morning was very difficult because he is usually the only person who can calm me down, and I was so stressed. Then, I was standing in front of the chapel listening every time the gong hit; I closed my eyes and could feel these goosebumps drenching me from head to toe, like electricity. When I opened my eyes, I could see Ben's face tearing up. We just stared at each other for what seemed forever as a moment suspended in time. They were the most magical and spiritual minutes of my life."
The Reception at Glass House
The decor for the dinner reception perfectly encapsulates the theme. As beige is a neutral colour, you could add many other colours into the mix– or nothing! In this case, the lush emerald greenery acts as a natural backdrop and supporting color, and the bridal table is in a similar blue-green tone. Crystal chandeliers hanging above elevates the room with pure elegance.
Grand Entrance
The bride has an outfit change from poise to glamorous with her feathered mini dress right in time for the after party.
Cake Cutting & First Dance
The lovebirds look nothing but stylish in the muted palette. Diana and Ben are here to prove to you that the beige and white combination is anything but boring!
