Bali Real Wedding | Stefanie & Rio
‘I’ll be there when the world stops turning, I’ll be there when the storm is through … in the end I want to be standing at the beginning with you….’
That was part of the lyrics of a song, Now and Forever Wonderful Journey, which the couple chose as their wedding theme. “Our 10 year relationship was full of its beautiful challenges but we always managed to work it out together. That is why we feel this song is the perfect song for our wedding ceremony” said Stefanie, the bride.

The song becomes even more meaningful when Mount Agung in Bali was in the verge of eruption and the couple decided to elope than to cancel their wedding in Tirtha. Since Bali airport was closed down, they chose not to put their guests in risk and took a flight half way then crossed the sea in a boat to reach Bali from Jakarta, continuing with another 7 hour trip by land to reach Tirtha for their wedding day, just the two of them.
“But we were so blessed, just one day before the wedding, the airport was finally opened and our family and friends flew in to join our wedding, we felt very grateful” said the couple.

Tirtha was part of the magic in the couple’s story. Without any real wedding plan, the couple decided to visit Tirtha and completely fell in love, “At that time we hadn’t really set a date. There was a marriage plan, but everything was still tentative. Tirtha was the first place we visited. We went there without an appointment and without a wedding date. And it was definitely love at the first sight, I was smitten! I just really, really love Tirtha Uluwatu, it’s beautiful beyond words.

The Ceremony at Tirtha Uluwatu | Chapel Wedding
The chapel is just the perfect place to tie the knot. The breathtaking view of Uluwatu is also a major bonus” explained Stefanie when asked what made her choose Tirtha in the first place.

The couple agrees that their best moment of the wedding was when Stefanie walked down the aisle accompanied by her father, “When the choir sang our song, I had goose bumps all over, just recalling it gives me chills. The many things we went through just to make all this happen” said Rio.

The Reception at Glass House

Despite all the challenges of a short 4 month wedding preparation, long distance communication and the Mount Agung eruption, the wedding finally came to shape very smoothly, even beyond expectations. “Our guests kept saying that it was a very beautiful, private wedding celebration. That they were very happy to be able to attend and witness us become husband and wife after such a long love story” explained Rio again.

Stefanie quickly added, “all my family finally understood why I wouldn’t budge from my plan of having my wedding at Tirtha, even in the brink of a natural disaster!”
